'Those little seeds - thoughts and memory, beautiful or disturbing, unresolved events remembering as a child or adult.
This is where my work begins. Narrative is continuous and multi-layered: a visual diary of observations, events, moments in life, of family, friends, people I have met or events recorded in the newspaper.

As a child I had strong bonds with animals. This has never left me. Through my work, I continue to identify and investigate those intense relationships, often unspoken, sometimes unconscious, but present. I paint those people with whom I have an affinity, attempting to depict the person without social status, as another human being whose face and body posture life has molded. I often have an idea germinating in my mind for some time. In the studio, I make drawings to decide if the idea is visually strong enough. Working from these qualities, I produce painted studies, changing and re-evaluating the substance that emerges. Using them as the starting point for the paintings which change and take their own identity as the narrative becomes reality.'
