Artist's Bibliography
Reginald Daniel Sherrin (b. 1891)
Born at Seasalter near Whitstable on the 5th April 1891. He served in the
First world War and worked in a munitions factory in Rochester in the Second
World War. His father was the well known landscape artist Daniel Sherrin.
He moved to Devon in 1953. His work is mainly in gouache and can be signed
in one of his two pseudonyms, J. Whitely or D. A. Niel. He was sometime painting
partner of F. J. Widgery and his extensive use of gouache on both his seascapes
and landscapes indicates an obvious influence. He lived at Starcross in Devon.
