Donald and Rita Greig with their son, Peter were picknicking at Soar Mill Cove, South Devon. Peter lying back eating his crisps inspired his father to sketch and then paint this delightful image. The original was painted in the the 1960's.

Artist's Bibliography:
Donald Greig is a painter in both oil and watercolour and a print maker. His subjects are mainly westcountry landscape and coastline. In recent years the city of Venice and the coast and countryside of Spain have provided his inspiration.

He was born in London, the Son of the Scottish artist James Greig and trained at Southend School of Art. In 1954 he moved with his family to an old farmhouse near Kingsbridge in Devon, and this is still his home today. He is married to the artist Rita Greig.

A member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, he was awarded the Gold medal, Paris Salon and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Exhibited: Royal Academy, Royal West of England Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, New English Art Club and the Royal society of British Artists.

Paintings in Public Collections: National Maritime Museum Greenwich, Bishop Otter Collection, Scunthorpe Municipal Galleries.
